THE BUSINESS SALES MARKET IS IMPROVING Written By: Mel Jones Mel Jones |
After six months of sluggish business sales, SellingRestaurants and SellingStores is seeing great improvements in the number of business sales transactions. Buyers are starting to move in to the marketplace. Price earnings multiples are increasing and prices are increasing as a result. More sellers with solid businesses are coming back to the marketplace. And the SBA has raised its limits on the amount of goodwill that can be part of the purchase price helping to fuel some of this demand.
SellingRestaurants and SellingStores have seen strong sales in Southern California, Washington and Northern California. “In 2008 we did 72 transactions. In 2009 we’re on track to do about 65 with most of those done in the second half of 2009.” Says Mel Jones President and CEO of Paramount Restaurant Brokers, Inc. “We’re finally starting to see the ice break-up after a long winter. I’m proud of what our team of agents has accomplished this year. It’s been tough. But they’re dedicated to serving their clients and I know our business model leads the industry. We’re expecting great things for SellingRestaurants and SellingStore in 2010!”
